new series: SILF day one

Earlier this year I did a [sporadic] week series on my favorite mashups.

Now I'd like to do a week of SILF (Songs I'd Like to Fuck)

First is the Aeroplane Italo 84 Remix of Kilometer by Sébastien Tellier.

Initially this remix sounds like just another remix of Kilometer (of which there are many). But starting from 3:13 on, where it starts to mellow out with the background melody that gradually and gradually is brought to the forefront when it finally explodes at 3:43 is ultimately orgasmic. Those 30 seconds of build are the audio foreplay to the final minute (plus) of absolute FUUUCK.

Sorry for that paragraph, but seriously, everytime 3:43 hits I always have to close my eyes and ride that high and if I could word it better I would but. I can't.

speaking of love

I have a bad habit of being an MP3 packrat. I am still holding onto some MP3s I got back in 1999 and 2000, in the days of yore AKA Napster.

The other day I finally upgraded my circa 2000 128kpbs Shanks and Bigfoot to 320kbps. It took a lot of strength to delete an MP3 I had for 9 years, with the whole packratty tendency.

But it sounds a fuckton better. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I always have.

Shanks and Bigfoot - Sweet Like Chocolate (Radio Edit)

love

I like to think of love in a few of its purest forms. Maybe not so much love at first site or love of things. Love. Like...how your parents love you. That unbreakable pure love that nothing can change. Or the person you know you want to be with forever, if you do ever know that. The love you feel when surrounded by the closest of friends. Feeling genuinely in love with the world. I don't know, it's nice to think about sometimes. For me, being in love with someone is the way I feel about this song:

I'm seriously cry your heart out melt all your insides float away to outerspace can't feel your feet jump a million times hug everyone kiss your pets dance with a stranger in fucking LOVE with Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders.

oh cough cough thx to ohh crapp aka nightmagnets? for the mp3

here is some stuff

Songs I am currently feeling. Nothing new, just what I am into at this moment.

Crookers - Gypsy P
Portishead - Humming
Lykke Li - Dance Dance Dance (Buraka Som Sistema Remix)

And this will be the hot track of the fall. I've been on it for awhile but I suspect B-Side won't catch on it til about September or October at the earliest. This is why I should not live in Ohio.

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge (Featuring Chris Keating of Yeasayer)

Enjoy!

live shows

I rarely enjoy seeing live music anymore. I think it is because I have become a robot. Last night I decided to see my friend Matt Celio's band November Loop at Cedar's in Youngstown. I admit, my intentions were not purely to see his band: they were opening for a cute indiepop band I've heard of before called Casper and the Cookies. I heard of them via their covering Of Montreal (which I drunkenly blathered to "Casper" Jason Nesmith, only to find out today, embarrassingly, he was in OM at one time. Shoulda done my research prior), and had a couple other tracks so I wanted to hear more.

I was drunk so that may have helped, but I had so much fun. My friend and I were the only two people dancing during most of the set, eventually we dragged some people out of the depths to dance with us. But really, their set was so damn cute (Amber kept saying "I want to take them home with us!") and so full of energy that I couldn't help myself.

I am not one to write much on music as you can tell by my blog, so I'll just let you take a listen.

Casper and the Cookies - Krötenwanderung
Casper and the Cookies - Penelope (Of Montreal Cover)

Oh yeah, if you like it go buy their cd:

Or give them a listen on myspace:

i should be sleeping

But instead, here is a story for you. It requires your imagination. Also some ignoring of laws of physics. But stories are all about what is not probable becoming probable, right?

Continuing, let's imagine there is this guy who one day discovers that his ability to break wind is more powerful than the average guy. I'm talkin toots that blast. He is alarmed at first, but decides to take advantage of this power, harness it. He then uses his powerful farts to blast into space, because he's always wanted to go into outer space. He farts right through the earth's atmosphere. He farts up higher and higher, each blast propelling him further and further out into space. He's pretty far up from earth when he realizes something: he can see the planet Mars. What better way to acknowledge this sight than to casually point it out? "Mars," he says nonchalantly.

Then he just zooms through space a bit more.

And now you know the story of the song Mars, by Fake Blood.
