bands/music/blogging

Lo-Hi-Fnk - where was I on that one? Cute as Cut Copy, not quite as good but cuter. Well, no one can be as good as In Ghost Colours era Cut Copy. If it was Bright Like Neon Love Cut Copy I would have to choose my words more wisely.

You Love Her Coz She's Dead - Too many bands that sounds like Crystal Castles now? I like the one song, tho. You know, the one all the blogs are posting (or I'd assume so).

BLOGHAUS - I feel like there is something fundamentally wrong with me in being obsessed with "indie-electro" ie electro/electroclub/BLOGHOUSE. Seriously, live bands and real instruments do nothing for me anymore. Really, they never did much in the first place. I think I had been waiting all my life for this movement of music. That sounds pretty gay.

MGMT - I kind of don't want to like them anymore just because of what surrounds them. Luckily (for myself) I am not punk.

HIPSTERRUNOFF - Amazing or terrible? I say the former, but what do I know? I am a terrible blogger. I rarely write more than one line and I go through months where I don't write at all.

Justice - A Cross the Universe - Lame? Who gives a fuck? Aside from being embarrassed in my own sex for all the titties flashin all over, it made my heart beat. Same with Soulwax's Part of the Weekend Never Dies (altBro).

I think that's what it is - Electro makes my heart beat. I always was too shy/ashamed to dance and I think it's cos electro never existed. I was never able to dance until now to the only music that doesn't make me look completely derelict when attempting to dance.

Speaking of Crystal Castles, why is their shit exploding, well, has been or did? Chiptunes being hawt? Since when? I know they old news but still. Ppl at HK go nuuuuuts for that shit.

I got a laptop. So I think I can start being a real DJ. I get DJ software Thursday. Along with more musix. Thanks Eric.

changes

I need a better interface. And a better blog name. And to start posting mp3s.

I wish I knew XHTML.

In music news...Hot Knees tomorrow.

this is how it is

For those interested I now DJ at the Green Room in Kent. The set is called Hot Knees Indie Dance Nights. It is every Thursday from 10-2ish, and Bri and I DJ every other Thursday. Maybe I'll also talk about what we play.

I am all over with this blog. I hope this finally sticks.

I keep using Facebook to make my rants/thoughts/writeups on music. Why not here?

Basically it is pretty fragmented and I don't really talk much about each song/artist/etc but I think people are probably getting sick of my constant notes about one or two songs.

I am still really into Divine by Sebastien Tellier. It has a real charm to it.

Some songs just don't need remixing or touched in any way. One of those is Just Can't Get Enough by Depeche Mode. Rly people. Leave it alone. I can't stand being out dancing and hearing that familiar synth opening then followed by heavy club hits that just...don't fit. As homage I am playing the original this Thursday.

Annie! New fuckin track! Miiiiiiigod! Love it. Annie, I have missed you. I'd post it, but everyone knows about Hype Machine by now.

I think if it wasn't so late I would host/post a couple songs but next time.

Wow on never picking up on The Twelves remix of the Black Kids. I do that often, though.

Oh and that fuckin Girl Talk remix/mashup of Grizzly Bear's the Knife and Wamp Wamp by Clipse is tight as shit. Slow, but I think we need a slow song to cool down for a bit on the floor.

Other good stuff planned for this week. The week Sam finally makes it down I am playing songs special for him. I think I'll do the same when Erika finds a chance to drive from Dayton.

My life is about music and dancing. Not sure how I feel about that.

And so on...

I have been wanting to continue this, but haven't quite felt like it. It is an agglomeration of laziness, apathy towards the Fiery Furnaces first album and not having the ability to write about music. I just can never articulate how I feel about a piece of music, so if there were some way I could make little brain explosions on the page you could read, I would, but there isn't. So I guess what I am trying to say is that I am going to write about music in leisure, here and there when I can get to it, or want to. Otherwise, I just am going to uh, as it were, blog.

I have a few topics floating around in my head so I will later this week start this venture.
